Applicants often use “confirmed” to describe several different events. Keeping them separate prevents accidental overconfidence.
Portal status
A portal shows the institution’s current recorded state. It may update after a delay and labels vary between universities. Capture the full wording and date rather than paraphrasing it from memory.
Email acknowledgement
An automated email usually proves that a form, document or query entered a queue. It may not mean that a person has assessed the content. Retain the sender address, subject, timestamp and attachments.
Your proof of action
A bank receipt, uploaded-file copy or sent email records what you did. It is essential evidence, but it does not by itself prove correct allocation or acceptance.
When following up, place the three side by side: your action, the acknowledgement and the latest institutional status. The gap between them is often the question that needs answering.
